North London’s alternative town. Sat on a network of canals and littered with market stalls, Camden is a buzzing centre for music, food and booze lovers. Camden Market is a big attraction but now stalls are scattered all over the place and beyond their previous boundaries. The food market right on the canal is the absolute best and whatever trends are going on in food culture, they are sure to be represented here first – cronuts and halloumi fries galore. Needless to say there are tonnes of pubs and clubs playing allsorts of music and staging live acts but the focus is on anything ‘alternative’. In terms of music Amy Winehouse lived here and so there’s a strong tribute to her and The World’s End pub has hosted bands such as Radiohead and The Darkness. If you want something a little more mainstream head to The Monarch on a Saturday night for their Soundtrack night to dance to some Pulp Fiction classics and Let’s Go Fly A Kite from Mary Poppins. That’s a whole other different type of edgy!
